Is Your Training Business in the Fast Lane?

MJ DeMarco’s excellent book “The Millionaire Fastlane” is one of my favorite books on the topics of business, entrepreneurship, and finance. One of the most profound bits of information presented in this work is MJ’s explanation of the “Fastlane Commandments”. These are key ideas that must be addressed if your business is to be structured in a manner that allows for exponential growth and maximum income potential.

Now, you may tell me that you are a trainer, coach, gym owner, or all of the above solely out of your love and passion for training. If that is your belief, than you are one of the rare human beings who is fortunate enough to do what you love for a living.

Congratulations on that.

I too began training others solely as a “labor of love”, without immediate desire, or even a concept of the potential for, great financial gain. It just so happened that I unknowingly did a few things “right” along the way that resulted in me building something that was born from my passion into a lucrative enterprise that assuaged my financial concerns, and allowed me to ultimately take my business to a level that I never would have thought possible.

My book “The Greyskull Guide to Success in Personal Training”, to be released within the next three weeks, outlines my journey from paycheck to paycheck trainer, having decided to take my passion for helping others become more beastly and capable, to international recognized author, gym owner, coach, and whatever else you want to call me.

I provide a structure for modeling the success that I have enjoyed over the last few years, that you as a trainer or aspiring trainer can then follow to take your business to a new level, and reap the intrinsic and extrinsic rewards that I am so grateful for having been able to enjoy.

While the book is largely autobiographical in nature, I address teachings, many of which I learned after the fact, that explain why certain things “worked” in terms of making my business and brand grow, and why others failed to produce the desired outcome. These are concepts and ideas that I now understand as a result of my intensive research into, and correspondence with experts on, what makes people and businesses succeed where others do not.

I of course also detail my views on what is needed in terms of the mechanics of an effective training business since, after all, value creation in the form of getting clients what they want in a reliable and efficient manner is ultimately what is needed at the helm of your plan.

I took the time to record this podcast covering MJ DeMarco’s five “Fastlane Commandments”, and how they pertain to your business as a personal trainer. Give it a listen, and let me know your questions or comments below.

Enjoy!
